Auch nahm er an Glaubensgespr\u00e4chen teil, in denen er durch gro\u00dfe Kenntnisse der griechischen Bibeltexte auffiel, die er allerdings, wie es hie\u00df, in recht bescheidener Art einbrachte. Die feste kirchliche Bindung und seine christliche Grundeinstellung verdankte er seiner Mutter Eugenie Duren (1864-1911). Noch als Student war er Mitglied in katholischen Vereinen und Verb\u00e4nden, wie beispielsweise in der katholischen Studentenverbindung UNITAS in Bonn im Jahre 1904 oder im Volksverein f\u00fcr das katholische Deutschland im Jahre 1912 in Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schumans Nachfolger auf dem Pr\u00e4sidentenstuhl des Europ\u00e4ischen Parlaments, Gajetano Martino, stellt fest: \u201eRobert Schuman war ein Mann des Glaubens. Er hat seinem Werk jenen tiefen, unzerst\u00f6rbaren Glauben eingehaucht, der ihn selber bewegte. Das erkl\u00e4rt, warum so viel Ausdauer, so viel Standfestigkeit und so viel innere W\u00e4rme in diesem Menschen steckte, der nach au\u00dfen k\u00fchl, furchtsam und bescheiden erschien. Die Kraft, die in ihm wohnte, war die des Glaubens\u201c.<sup data-fn=\"c7c3d006-cee4-44ff-9b6f-341ea7e96b0e\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#c7c3d006-cee4-44ff-9b6f-341ea7e96b0e\" id=\"c7c3d006-cee4-44ff-9b6f-341ea7e96b0e-link\">1<\/a><\/sup> So auch Andr\u00e9 Philip, Sozialist protestantischer Konfession, mehrfach Minister der IV. Franz\u00f6sischen Republik, erinnert sich wie folgt: \u201eWas mir zun\u00e4chst an ihm auffiel, war die Ausstrahlung inneren Lebens, die von ihm ausging. Man stand vor einem geweihten Menschen, der seine pers\u00f6nlichen W\u00fcnsche abgelegt und seinen Ehrgeiz abgestreift hatte, den totale intellektuelle Ehrlichkeit und<br>Demut beseelten, der nur danach suchte, zu dienen, dort und in dem Augenblick, wo er sich berufen f\u00fchlte\u201c<sup data-fn=\"22dfa70b-ea7e-4113-b806-a20c367cbcc7\" class=\"fn\"><a durch die NSDAP wurden viele Kl\u00f6ster beschlagnahmt. Auch hier in Neustadt wurde zun\u00e4chst eine Abteilung der Flak-Beobachtung im Herz-Jesu-Kloster einquartiert; Ca. 60 Soldaten waren in der Baracke auf dem Klostergel\u00e4nde untergebracht. Dadurch konnten keine Exerzitien mehr angeboten werden. Lediglich Seelsorge, auch Aushilfen in den Pfarreien und Gespr\u00e4chskreise in nicht zu gro\u00dfen Gruppen waren noch m\u00f6glich. Von wann bis wann diese Einheit hier war, dazu gibt es leider keine Unterlagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Dem vollst\u00e4ndigen Zugriff konnte man dadurch entgehen, dass das Kloster mit Wirkung ab 1. Januar 1941 zu einer Au\u00dfenstelle der Neustadter Pfarrei St. Marien erkl\u00e4rt wurde. Kirchenrechtlich wurde die Klosterkirche zu einer sog. Pfarrexpositur.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-f383d393 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nur das Nebengeb\u00e4ude des Klosters, die sog. \u201eVilla\u201c, wurde durch das St\u00e4dtische Krankenhaus (heute: Hetzelstift) ab 10. September 1941 belegt mit der Infektionsabteilung; das Krankenhaus war zum Hilfslazarett erkl\u00e4rt worden und ben\u00f6tigte deshalb zus\u00e4tzliche Bettenkapazit\u00e4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oben sieht man den Eingang zur Klosterkirche, wie sie zur Zeit von Schumans Gefangenschaft in Neustadt ausgesehen hat.
